Bungay is (of course, didn't you know?) a small town nearby, known for, well, not much really, but Black Shuck (The Darkness wrote a song about it) a big black devil ghost dog and "chicken roundabout" (really at Ditchingham) was en route for many years. The roundabout is still there, but the chickens are all gone now. In the last few years "Health and Safety", as well as people killing the chickens, means that they are no more - but there was a flock (herd, gaggle? what does one call a gathering of chickens?) living on the A12 for many many years.

Hmm. Anyway, I took Mother today. It was scorchingly hot and we went and mooched round the shops. Proper market town kind of stuff, specialist deli, hand made arts and things and antiques and well, we had cream tea (cream elevenses?) and bought some kitsch cat ornaments from the 60s, organic produce and second hand books. A rather lovely jaunt..

And we returned home, in time for me to hop in the bath before getting out and hitting the roads again - this time heading toward Norwich for a meal out with friends. We spotted some of the infamous Gorillas (but obviously not the Freddy Mercury one - check out the BBC news website if you have no idea what I am talking about.) The meal itself was quite mundane and nothing to write home about, but it was nice to be out, we sat on the balcony of a pub afterward and watched the world go by (or rather, as we were in the entertainment part of the city, we watched the hen parties go by. Many many hen parties. All wearing the same pink banners, pink tutus and fairy wings. All of them.

And now I'm back and I'm chilled and mellow and very aware I need to hoover.
