YAYAYAYAYAY! John won! So pleased!
He's so sweet and vulnerable and his cheeks go red when he's under pressure and he's like a little boy lost and all he wanted to do was make his mother proud of him - and she was a meanie, there was all the passive aggressive joshing in his little video bit and "John's never won anything" - no wonder all he wanted to do was get some approval and he won won won!
Brendan was astonishing this week in that there was a teeny brief moment when I didn't dislike him vehemently - there was a flash of time when he was interacting with his partner when he seemed a little bit normal and not sooooo full of himself. It didn't last long, when he started giving himself ten out of ten I found myself hoping he'd drop all his fondant fancies.
(weren't they all a tremendous mess?)
James, well, I would have accepted James winning, but he didn't do terribly well today, so I wasn't expecting him to in the end.
They didn't show John's partner, I wonder who was shy? I blame his mother.
So, jolly pleased that Brendan didn't win and extremely pleased that John did. Oh and ho sweet is it that Sarah Jane and Catherine are selling cakes together.
Oh but Sue, your trousers...

I didn't realise John had a partner we just didn't get to see. That's sad. The level of OH GOD with his mother and really his whole family, and just EVERYTHING made me suddenly very invested in him being okay and every round where SOMEHOW he didn't mess up and drop everything and forget an egg and burn things lkdfhaoijsodiafjdf, it was GREAT.
I would love to see Mary Berry showing them all how easy dipping sponge in icing can really be. If they just tried.
