I'm delighted to see this! I remember when you started on the wallpaper, fireplace etc. I really love the bold use of the purple (or whatever color we're going to call it) and brown with white highlights. Smashing! I love the china pattern,m too. I'm familiar with it. The colors are perfect -- really ties things together. I'm another vote for your photo collage. It's intriguing and does a lovely job of translating your color scheme into a story of you ;-)

And the cat. Well. We have to have a cat.

You know, the idea of hanging the fronds thing over the closet door is a nice solution. I wouldn't have thought of that, but you needed the darker color there for balance, and this does that while adding a little texture and not blocking access to the closet entirely.

I'm so glad you left the tiles on the fireplace. They're beautiful -- a totally different style from the wallpaper, but somehow, that works to add cultural depth, as do your old family pieces. When it comes time for you to hang a mirror there, which I agree is a nice idea, you might want to try finding one that's upright rectangular (longer than it is wide) and with an arched top, to mimic the shape of the tiled areas. I know I've seen something like that somewhere.

Oh the floors! Wow. They're glorious. Worth all the work, and then some. It's good you're able to show them off, rather than covering them with giant rugs.

Brava!
