I don't really know why I'm disappointed, I had no great expectations.

To put it in perspective - I *do* like the new who. I *do* like Tennant (Though more so in other things). I thought the beginning of this series was poor - but I think it had really improved.

That said - when I saw the cliffhanger last week I thought that here was a great opportunity to do something really wowsy - especially if they'd maintained the fantastic bluff and Tennant was really done... but I had no real hopes, my expectations were of a cheat and in that sense alone I wasn't disappointed...

Oh dear though.

I really liked Donna - so hate the way they used and abused her - and all this 'she's special stuff' - when what they really meant she was just gonna be the doctor for a bit? Why couldn't she have done something on her own merits for a change? (This is just the same trick as having Martha "Single handedly save the earth" last year - by walking around and talking about the Doctor...)

I also thought Tennant was nothing like her when he was supposed to be 'merged' with her.

And as for her fate? Asides from anything about the *shame* of just wiping her brain and sending her back shall we just talk about the utter unfeasability of it? We already established that Donna has low self esteem - so are we to believe that she will choose to ignore the entire world talking about the earth vanishing - and her xtended family talking about her alien infested non - wedding and all the other world newsworthy events - and think that no, actually the entire world is wrong and only I am right? - Let alone she wouldn't notice her grandfather suddenly stopping being obsessed with aliens? I give her a week before her brain implodes anyway.

--

Then there's Martha - who wafts off in her leather to sacrifice herself and blow up the world - and dear God that little hint at the end from Jack better not mean she's on Torchwood next time - I can't stand her.

~~

And Rose and Doc#2 - wtf? She's end of the world in love with 1, but 2 says he loves her and will get old so that's okay? She made a huge fuss when Eccleston changed into Tennant (as you would) and yet now she's okay with a cheap (or should be say, angry, rage and hate filled and unstable) replica after a few hours? And Doc #1, despite professing to love her is happy to leave them together? And excuse me, when did her life become so disposable that she is to spend it rehabilitating a doctor clone rather than living the way she chooses? Mickey got to stay (Oh look 3 disposable females...)

~~

Even Bernard Cribbens - who I LOVE - ended up doing the same, eye moistened, wibbly chinned salute thing three episodes in a row. (I still would have forgiven the whole episode if they'd taken him as he next companion.)

PAH.

Good things?

Yes there were some -

Mickey! and Jackie! (I wish they'd brought Pete too!)

Gita from Eastenders acting badly.

I LOVED the daleks speaking German (although I couldn't understand anything the German woman said in that segment).

Mickey may be in Torchwood (but if it's a case of him AND Martha or neither of them, I'll take the latter.

Oh, and best laugh of all - watching RTD's hair getting more and more bouff every week on Confidential as he tries to cover his ever increasing hair loss!

This is my favourite post. Dude. I keep wanting to cut out individual bits and go, "OH MY GOD, YES" but I think that would be UNFAIR on the other bits. I just agree with almost everything here. Mostly the stuff about Rose. BUT EVERYTHING ELSE AS WELL.

Thankfully the one rl person with whom I discuss Who was in complete agreement, and we spent a happy half hour slating the episode.

I'd be happy with Mickey in Torchwood. Martha, not so much... but Mickey'd add a nice bit of Owen-ness to the place....

And yes, I felt a little weirded out too when Rose trapsed off with Doctor Jr, and Doctor Sr just kind of looked wistfully at them... I expected more, some how....

I expected so much more... ah well.

Mickey in Torchwood would be good, a bit of banter and some humour - Martha... not so much is the politest way I could put it!!

I AGREE WITH YOU SO MUCH. I LOVE THIS POST. OH GOD I HATE MARTHA AND EVERYTHING SHE DOES. I can't believe anything about any of the endings. Rose or Donna or anyone. I cannot believe HOW BAD IT IS. Why would they do that?

I tolerated Martha when she was in it all the time, never liked her, but tolerated her. Since she's been a visiting guest star she's apalling - it's as if any touch of characterisation or good writing (hah!) has been lost and she's a walking, leather clad shell. So now I fully embrace my Martha loathing - although it had competition throughout this episode, 'cos so much of it made me cross!

None of it was good. None of it.
