I don't think I could have stepped into the room with the guy knowing what he's done.
the first time I interviewed an offender I was petrified - and that was for a minor offence - now I work with the higher risk cases - and I love my job.
It's more interesting the higher risk, though of course carries a lot more responsibility, but it's so challenging - and to make a step forward, a breakthrough or just to get them to start thinking differently - even if it's just for five minutes in this session - it's great., and is a start and something to build on... I really *do* love it!
Plus I think it helps that I have an incredibly black sense of humour...
