Oct. 17th, 2006 09:55 pmMy father (and his family) appear to be going into some second childhood. He has bought a 'cap' snap thing - like a mini mousetrap that you put under things and then they go bang. He Bought this because his sister and brother have them. He is 69. Last night his sister let off a stink bomb in my Grandmother's house. He is also growing a beard. Today he painted my Mum's house - and started at the bottom, then did the top, then the middle. Also he is growing a beard. I might have mentioned this before, but it is important to recognise how scary this is. In the 70s my Dad had 'muttonchops', he might do this again.
I had one of those days today, where I did lots and lots of work, and saw a ton of people and it all just felt 'nosy' instead of work. Eg: G was concerned as to what stage one of his DV offender's new/old romance had reached as it would affect risk management plan and all sorts, but chap was being evasive. So today I 'went in' (Cover me!) As I was new to this guy and 'just filling in' I had to do a 'general situational session' (ie asking all about where/who they are, home, family, job, health etc etc) instead of the normal focussed session - As part of this I basically interrogated him about the romance, in an "ok, so you say x, but what would happen if y" questions, loads of "let me get my head round this"s and so on - basically I spent 90% of the session quizzing him about his relationship, and he didn't seem to notice AND gave me lots of info. It's really handy to swap now and then, because the barriers they build against their regular officer's style and manner don't work on another's. Love it!

Do other people poke their cats to make sure they are alive?
