(no subject)

My going out involved only a teeny bit of alcohol, a nice pizza and - sitting in a stationary (groan!)train for 40 minutes before we gave up waiting(at the point the driver estimated a further hour's delay - at least ) and our hostess got up from her bed to drive us home. Aw. And also Brrr!

Today I looked at new cookers before getting bored and going to the more exciting home entertainment section and buying a new vhs/dvd machine! Eeeh, quite shiny. only £100 - but specifies plays NSTC tapes as well as PAL, so I'm all excited for my overseas/fangirly viewing to commence. This does make 3 dvd players in a single occupancy house, but hey...

Also had to buy a new toaster as EUW! - manky stray cat came in and peed on mine! ug. Didn't notice till I put toast in and it started to heatup - yuk, have you ever smelt hot cat wee? I do not recommend it. Yeuch.


Why am I dreaming about Satanic possession? ( cut for Satanic dream recollection )

Father delivered some shopping to me this morning, and brought my senile grandma along for the ride and to 'see my house'. I am not a tidy individual and don't appreciate unannounced guests - plus I was semi naked, so wasn't best pleased. Ada (my gran) wandered around aimlessly - fussed my cat, then accused him of being stuffed, asked 5 times if Elvis was still alive (I have an Elvis calandar), before asking if I had any pets! Shame really - I have only abstract sympathy as opposed to emotional as she's never been a gran to me, she's just the nasty woman who happens to be my father's mother, but even so.

Right - time to blitz my kitchen, (hence the most 'domestic' icon I have!)install new toaster,(and drainer and breadbin - I'm a spendthrift, shoot me!) and then I get to play with my new vhs/dvd machine! yay!

I cleaned. There was housework happening near me. It's okay though, I kept breathing deeply and didn't panic.

I think I may paint my kitchen next weekend. Annie's kitchen was all white and rustic and cottagey. Mine is grey and bleuch. I want a completely new one, fitted and all that jazz, but beyond my means at the moment.

I just watched RAGE - it was - engrossing. Really powerful. I started watching it with one eye tilted to my job (it's a story about a rapist undergoing a sex offender treatment programme whilst in custody - though obviously more comprehensively addressed than that) - it's strange. The therapy is a lifetime away from the programmes that are currently offerred - as far as I am aware, and with the caveat of course, that there's so much out there that I don't know about, but the programmes we offer at the moment are all based on Cognitive Behavioural approaches (Including the DV programme we run that is based on research from Duluth funnily enough!) - so the concepts embraced in this movie, with the full emotional aspect - the letting go, regression therapy (and all the laying on of hands) is so alien to my current professional hat. (Although more at home with the psychology I've studied and the counselling training I've done.)

After a bit though I stopped watching academically and just swam in the movie - DS was SO good. Contained, reticent, afraid, angry. The slow progress made (and this movie spread over many years) was great and realistic for a change - (as were the parole meetings where the offender has learnt the words, but not the meaning). It was intense and actually rather fab!

My new machine works - although I can't manage the connection to let me record from the video yet, which is annoying 'cos my old one worked perfectly - though maybe as this tape was nstc - I will have to persevere with that. - Oh and there is absolutely no truth in the supposition that maybe when my video ate the tape yesterday I wasn't actually plugged in and may have released the film perfectly naturally without me disecting it, had I realised this fact...
