Jan. 30th, 2007 11:40 pmIt's been a good day at work today - not necessarily productive, G & I spent most of it talking. Gossip as well as quite deep and meaningful - we were wondering about the birth of fetish and an individual's personal kinks - not just in an innocent way, but in the same way as 'how does someone develop a sexual kink for shoes' for example, is the question 'where does a sexual desire for minors come from?' Anyone have any good recs/articles/theroetical texts?
From here we went on to look at Rape - ie is it power vs sexuality? Then we moved on to was sexuality an outcome of nature or nurture. Detouring via "if blindfolded, and in the absence of vocal cues and things like stubble, Adam's apple etc, would a man be able to tell the difference between a man and a woman giving him a blowjob? Which led to the debate that if not, than surely this proves that all the disgust repulsion etc has to be learnt and a product of society. This was countered the argument of reproductive programming ... and so around and around it went! fun though.
Our 'Diversity Champions' sent around an email proposing we celebrate Chinese New year - in particular the "Sisterhood" that is (apparantly) an intrinsic part of the Year of the Pig - which promptly alienated the male half of the workforce...
I had supervision with my boss - during which we exchanged salacious gossip, debated the merit of our latest targets, then talked about L'enfant - that Athena picture of the man with a baby, which is now 20 years old! - the 'baby' now attends the UEA - and the model revealed himself to be an utter arse in the papers at the weekend.
