Aug. 26th, 2008 09:34 pmIt's all babies at the minute - yesterday I met my friend's newest arrival - Ernie was born last Tuesday (after a 3.5hr labour!) - and is tiny. All teeny fingers and toes and everything in miniature. Aw.
And today I lunched with my other friend and her little sweeties - Eve and Ruby (Ruby being 6mnths and just begining the weaning process). They are gorgeous children, so well behaved and happy. We had a very sticky lunch, with lollies and dribble and drool and food everywhere. (Yes, I do mean the babies and not me!)
It has all changed nowadays (I know, I have donned my grandma voice) - see, when I was young, I didn't go to nursery school, or tumbletots or baby dance or baby massage, or musical movement or baby art ... I went to school and that was it. In the summer holidays there was always an 'activity week' laid on by the local church, which I sometimes went to. (we were never churchgoers). We made paper machier vases (yes, I know they 'melted' as soon as anyone added water, but that's what we made!) and we listened to a bible story each day. None of this organised creativity and entertainment though.
This is not meant as a criticism of then or now btw, just an observation - and maybe why my Mum was so isolated?
-
Lunch at wagamammas today, chilli noodles which were very nice, coffee in starbucks and I've just had some phish food ice cream - very satisfying day consumptionwise!
-
Oh, and I bought loads of Lush stuff, and some clothes and shoes and it was all very relaxed.

Thanks for all your comments re my offender/work btw. I would have answered indiviudally (and may yet do so) but I've been trying not to think about it...
