Back to the doctor's - he's bumped things forward, so instead of waiting 3 months to see how things go, he has now referred me to the hospital for an endoscopy - seems to be quite a waiting list, so I shan't hold my breath. In the meantime I'm to keep taking the ppi, and hope I have no more incidents - I asked for advice/medication to deal with it if I do and he wouldn't give me any, saying that he didn't want to treat the symptoms without knowing what the cause was. I accepted this, but told him that if I had further flare ups or things got worse, then I would be back to argue this out with him.

So, I remain off my food and drink and in a general low level of pain - and awaiting a hospital apt for the endoscopy. Ah well, at least I'm saving money on groceries!!

Well, potentially.

My neighbour had some sort of alarm screeching earlier this evening. I did go and have a look out the door to see what was going on - my social uselessness would still allow me to investigate and assist where needed in that regard.

But... Well the alarm beeped and then stopped. At this point I didn't know it was my neighbour, but a short while later a van pulled up and someone banged on the door "Mr X?! You rang about your CO alarm going off" ... and in the house he went.

So far, so dull.

Then, as I sit there listening to the clattering and banging going on, I get to thinking that they might knock on my door, might need to check out my gas/boiler....

So I promptly turn off my light and sit there in darkness so I can pretend to be out. It's only after they went without disturbing me at all, that I realise I was going to choose to risk carbon monoxide poisoning rather than show someone around my (rather untidy) house in my pjs.

Oh dear.
