Jun. 28th, 2012 11:22 pmsickness thing:
They were due to see me on Tues am as I explained the other day. My new boss spoke to the HR bod I spoke to before with my Dad absence and she said "just an informal chat" lets do it Tuesday afternoon. I agreed to get it over and done with and spent the day in a high dudgeon of anxiety. Cometh the hour, cometh the Hr bod..."Sorry, we're running late, I'll call you sometime tomorrow".
Tomorrow came, the call came at the end of the day when I was off to Norwich, so she said she'd call the following day.
Today, she called and I wasn't at my desk, so I get an email telling me that the sickness meeting was because of my absence in May, and now I've had the endoscopy and was off for that too, there's *another* triggered. So she'll come see me at the end of July.
So I wrote back.
I pointed out that I was unhappy with the way I would have been ambushed by the original meeting. How unsupportive this was. How I didn't quite understand why these reviews were being triggered when my understanding was the 6 absence thing. How it would have been helpful if at my return to work meeting after Dad, they could have pointed out that even 2days for hospital treatment would trigger a review process. I asked for full details of the sickness policy so I could know where I stand. I pointed out that I had ongoing health issues and this wasn't helping me deal with that. I pointed out my confusion as to whether this was so important they were going to ambush me with it, or so unimportant I could be sidestepped several days in a row and then postponed for a month. I did this all very professionally, civilly and pretending that I liked them and was just trying to clarify things for all our benefit... but I said them nonetheless.
I shall see whether she replies!
Other work issues continue as ever they were, but at least I've finished the Group work now and don't have to worry about that.
Plus I may have already spent (some of) the money I'll get for doing it on a shiny shiny Kindle Touch! Oh it's so pretty in its purple case and with lovely books and fic sitting side by side all pretty and waiting.
:)
