It could be worse - you could work in finance! Mind you, at least you wouldn't have to deal with criminals! Maybe worth a look, you don't have to have qualifications - if you can do data entry and talk to people with questions about payments then you can do the job.
But I know what you mean ... your place sounds really depressing, I wouldn't be able to cope with those gross offenders.
