I've finally caught up with my viewing with the help of a day under a duvet with a hot water bottle :)
Suits is wierd, 'cos every time I don't watch it, I think I don't like it anymore and I think about Mike and Harvey and I'm just meh. But I make myself watch it and every time I'm surprised anew at how much I like it. I love Louis Litt. He's such a foul creature, a bully, he's dreadful - but oh he's so vulnerable. He loved his cat and he loves Pearson Hardman and he loves Harvey and his actor (and I know it's appalling that I can't be bothered to look him up)* is marvelous that he can make it all so credible. And all he wants is Harvey's attention. And as for Harvey - well. I was going to be all D'aw and Poor Harvey (in fact I was) when "No one leaves me" was a throw away line in a rant at Mike. I grasped on it with my sticky little paws and was all set to be moved and compassionate. Then they painted it in 17 foot high letters across the screen, many many times and I decided to stop being moved and to veer into contempt. Really? Just in case we missed it. And I like Harvey, I do - but he is also so unlikeable and his deciding he wants his name on the wall, as soon as whatserface points it out to him, I thought he was supposed to be more self assured and thought out than that. So easily manipulated? But it doesn't matter, Harold did puppy face, Louis tended to Mike's bruises with instant compassion and Jessica is (I was going to say stunning, but that seems entirely shallow, but she is and she walks all over Harvey too, so that helps). Donna is Donna and remains so. And Rachel is a boring person about whom I don't give a monkeys'. And was she really wearing a top showing her stomach? Was it a trick of the light. That's not professional. I could never be professional (not that I expose my midriff, heaven forfend, but I could never wear clothes that astonishing. I struggle now, because I wear the same type of clothes all the time. I don't have a work wardrobe and a me wardrobe, I just have clothes.)
I also saw Which remains pretty and engaging. And I thought I saw Mozzie in the supermarket yesterday which was entertaining if unlikely. It seems a little, sometimes it seems like they're saying lines, especially at the start of the episodes. But they have an awesome bad guy now (wasn't he a horseman in SPN? I should look that up too.)** He's grand anyway and seems to be a worthy opponent. El asking Neal to lie to Peter annoyed me this week, if only because they should all know better that Peter isn't going to let anything go. Every episode up to now has shown them that, all they're doing is making him unhappy when he already has to contend with Neal's father coming out of the woodwork and potentially stealing Neal away. I have a head image of Peter sitting in a car and weeping (a la Big Eden) after seeing Neal and his Dad bond. Don't make that happen
And then there was Which all I can really say is hooray. This weeks ep was rather fantastic. Charlie was back, she was queen. Dean wore the most fabulous clothes and was so happy to be doing so. Dean told Charlie everything. Well typical Dean, he told her the stuff that painted him in a bad light without highlighting his own sacrifice. (even if she saw straight through him). I did enjoy this episode, Dean very much suits his costume and that kept me happily distracted and then the episode was fun as well, hence hooray.
I also had to watch. Two episodes. Which were kind of okay, Chin in prison was okay. Sang Min is always value for money. Although I found the destruction of the various prison guards quite distressing. Possibly because it reminds me how the prisons I visit only work because the inmates let them. So few guards per inmates and I don't like to think about that when I have to go on the wing for visits etc! Erm anyhow, Chin was a hero (of course) and appears to have found the female equivalent of healing cock. Lo! you shall grieve no more now the pretty girl has smiled at you. Maybe not. perhaps I'm being grumpy. The helicopter rescue thing was as ludicrous as one has come to expect from the show, so it didn't offend me as it might have. I think if I think of it like old school A Team, with ridiculous rescues aided only by a spanner and a cabbage, then I shall not mind so much.
The second episode I am having difficulty remembering. I can see Steve in Dress Blues and the tie straightening bit, and the end with the Governor drinking beer with them, but am struggling to remember the middle bit. Oh. Wo Fat. Something to do with him too. More helicopter nonsense, I remember that bit, but I'm buggered if I can remember the plot or who did what and why. Oh and improbable amounts of candles round a bathtub. Hmm. They're all still pretty, so I watch and enjoy nonetheless.
And finally Oh Lewis. Oh. Such mixed feelings. The whole falling into a relationship with Hobson was nicely done and realistic and lovely and cute and oh but Hathaway. I know there would never be a Hathaway/Lewis relationship beyond the remarkable friendship they show now, but Laurence Fox plays it all so beautifully and I would rather he not be heartbroken!
In briefer verdicts, Miranda was fun the past two weeks, very much liked the guy in the shop. Ripper Street was less so this week and I haven't watched Call the Midwife yet. (I know it looks loads, but these are the only shows I watch all week.)
*Rick Hoffman, I went and looked and he's only 6 months older than me! I thought he was in his 50s. Oops, sorry Rick Hoffman. Although that's probably a compliment to your acting, so actually you're welcome Rick Hoffman.
** Titus Welliver - yes he was, he was in Suits too - fancy that.
