lolabobs: (sh - chest hair! rowr!)

I dreamt that I bumped into Sean connery, as one does, and having done so, commented to him that he had much less hair than when I had last seen him on screen. He looked suitably afronted, and I went up to him and cupped his face between my hands, pointing out that he had no beard this time and it was facial hair to which I was referring. He was happy at this and went away. I don't generally do face cuppage, so this was quite strange.

I watched Grave Danger last night - and again was struck by how very fake all the beginning, blatantly Tarantino, dialogues sound. But then later there was all the writhing and crying, so that was okay.

Today I watched Death in a Different Place - only the second time, and phew. Last time I was watching them all in a frenzy and missed a lot of the nuances, and this episode has a lot of nuances! Apart from the sheer beauty of HUtch, all sweaty and hot. And oh God how many times does he touch himself.. guh. And then at one point there is a drop of moisture rolling down Starsky's chest.. just slowly making its way, down the centre of his chest, amongst the chest hair and... Oh. My.

And that's without getting into the Looks that Hutch keeps giving Starsky, oh there is so much going on beneath the surface there. And I said it before but Starsky is NOT homphobic, not even a little bit. Reacting to a pivotal, stable figure from your life being revealed to have been living a lie, is not the same thing at all. So there.

Today my pmt finally reached payoff and I've been cramping all day. Went to bed mid afternoon. I think if I were left to my own devices, without any work commitments or societal norms I would live my days split in quarters, nap, up, nap, up. Either that or I'm just naturally very lazy. Or perhaps I'm an alien with an entirely different timezone?

I got the two 20p Commando war story/cartoon library things I bought off eBay, following my family book nostalgia - just as I remembered them, full of heroic self sacrifice, hate, love and guns!

Did I mention that drip of sweat on Starsky's chest?

I *love* the visuals in that particular episode. Sweat. Looks. Guh.

And I agree. Not homophobic, but rather, just trying to puzzle it out, as we all do when confronted with something outside of our ken.

PMT for you is PMS for me, and yes, payoff day. I don't cramp, though, so **pets you**.

I don't normally get pmt-y, and usually cramp on first day only. Every so often one comes along and bites my butt. Yep. the joy of being female!

accepts petting gracefully and with purrs

And oh yes, *such* a pretty episode!

One of my favorite epis cuz it's gritty and I'm all about the grit....especially like the scene in the beginning when the torino dies and Hutch goes ballistic... seems very natural and in character...

I love lots of things about this episode - I love teh way Starsky sounds, the actual tone of his voice and the pacing when he is talking to Peter Whitelaw. I like the look on Hutch's face in the tag when S says 'How do you know?' - H has jumped to conclusions about S viewpoints and this challenges them a little bit. I love the way S&H are filmed as they arrive at the crime scene, the way it's framed.

I still don't really like Sugar, but hey!

I know I tend to trot out the same paragraph in response to this episode, but it remains true :P

I've long said that Death in a Different Place is one of my favorite eps and it remains true because of how much depth you get from these characters. The scene in the car, where Hutch pointedly asks Starsky if it would have made a difference had he known John Blaine was gay. THAT SCENE is so overly telling of where these two men are in their lives. Hutch has been living in the closet, with the hidden truth, for all these years and he's just trying to get Starsky to notice, but he's afraid of the outcome and Starsky is not ready. Starsky knows, but he's not ready to know, you know?;) That look of "would it have made a difference, will it make a difference with us?" Starsky knows what Hutch is telling him, but he's not ready to accept it yet, so he doesn't. He just goes on with the knowledge in the back of his mind and it changes who these men are to one another because once you let that out, you can't not know. It changes them, but they're trying like crazy to not let it change them. Hutch is ready, Starsky's not, and the lies that they construct to live their lives, to just pretend a little bit longer, is tearing them apart. And it will tear them apart and it will break our hearts to witness it, but it's time. It's time for Hutch to stop living in the closet and it's time for Starsky to stop running away. They have to deal with this and it's setting them up to do it.

Yes it does scream out rather. It's impossible not to see it that way. And Starsky's answer - or non answer.. It's his attempt to keep them in a holding pattern just a bit longer.

Oh so good.
