My parents: Awww!

Dad bought Mum a dvd. They sat down to watch it. Aren't terribly impressed. Mum tells me about it in a phonecall tonight. Apparantly it started off ok, but it only ran for a few minutes, then kept repeating itself...

They spent goodness how long watching the animated menu - AWWWWW!

After I stopped laughing I tried to explain, but will be popping in tomorrow to show them how to watch dvds...

Worked my socks off at work today. But got the really urgent stuff done. Now I have Fri and half of Monday to get two weeks worth of work completed. Sure, I can do that.

S at work today told me he 'really really liked me' but if he had a means of taking the whole building out, (bomb, fire, mustard gas - he wasn't fussy) he would 'sacrifice me as collatoral damage'. Nice to know.

I need something from the car, but am wearing my pjs and my 15 year old jumper. A jumper that I think the bin would reject as unworthy, but it is my snuggle jumper and you try and take it off of me!

off of.

Is this just a local thing? properly one should simply say 'off' I suppose. Do other people say off of?
He jumped off of the building? He jumped off the builing?

My new favourite eBay listing:

Still 100% better than I could draw, but who will buy?

Guilty. Although I find myself using it less. It's a regional dialectic thing. Everyone I know uses it and it's taught in school -- it's the American Way. :D

I suppose it goes hand in hand with 'on to' same principle.

he jumped on the bus.. on to the bus

Meh. I don't know.

I'm happy to be a sloppy, regional speaker as long as it doesn't slip into my written work!

"Where drawn abt. 1972 in Dover, Ohio"

Interesting...they were drawn three years before the series even premiered. It's like they were psychic or something :P

is it sad that I'm pretty sure I recognize which photos the 'arteest' was working off of? (there's your 'off of' use!)
