Feb. 16th, 2007 06:06 pmOof. I nearly fried myself today.
In the week a light bulb went in my middle room - I tried to change it without standing on a stool and consequently the bloody thing shattered in my hand, leaving me with glass shards all over the floor, and a jagged edged half a light bulb stuck in the socket.
Today was the first chance I had to attempt to deal with it.
Anyway, today I found a chair and clambered upon it - thinking just to look, just wanted to see what needed to be done. I have one of those cheap 'paper ball' lampshades.. so I tried to roll it up so I could get a look at the socket thing.
Well.
Metal edge of the shade connects with the LIVE bayonet fixings. Big bang. Flash. Mini fire. (Lola falls off the chair.)
Guess who kinda forget to turn off the electricity...
Hurrah for circuit breaker fuse boxes.
The shade now has a charred hole burnt through it, I have a bruised behind. The cats are terrified and I still have half a light bulb stuck in a live electric socket.
Not the most succesful of afternoons!
