Pre op stuff today - I've been probed with cotton swabs (nurse stuck 'em up my nose to check for mrsa - I thought she was going to come out the top of my skull she rammed it up there so high and hard!). Swabs from groin too (she's glad I was "tidy"). I've had an ECG - I wandered in and wondered if she'd like me to take my cardi off -"chest bare dear!" barked different nurse. I wibbled, left my bra on - "Completely bare!" came the slightly gruffer command. It's bizarre - I'd psyched myself up for downstairs probage and was greatly disconcerted to have to get topless. As it was, groin swab aside, my downstairs didn't get an airing today. I've had blood taken and temperature (quite why she took that today I don't know, I'm guessing it may change by Monday morning). Blood pressure ("Hmm, well you're doing something right.") and general instructions given.

7.30am I've to be at the ward. It's good I guess, that thi sis bugging me more thna the op itself at this point. My Denial is Strong.

oh my goodness, so poked and prodded and pried at....

FYI, I used to do 12-lead ekg's on people, and you don't have to take your bra off if the tech knows what they are doing. The nurse was being overly-cautious and a pain... but I guess that's no consolation now, huh.....

Humph!! It did seem rather unecessary - especially when, as a big boobied woman, they are much less obedient when braless!

Your nurse sounds scary. 7.30 is a rubbish time to have to be anywhere, but mostly I hope it's not too stressing.

The first nurse was okay, the second one was not so friendly. 7.30 is an impossible time that I disapprove of wholey.

did I miss something? Are you having the hysterectomy?

No, not hysterectomy - not yet anyway. I'm having a hysteroscopy - to check the inside of my womb and make sure things look as they should. A biopsy from the womb and possibly the 'installation' of an IUS hormone filled coil. - They're wanting to find the size of the fibroid and in the interim reduce my bleeding to hopefully reduce the accompanying pain.

oh. ahhh. Yeah, that's all weird but it's all easy. You won't even know anything was done afterward. You'll just feel sleepy but you won't feel like anything was done "down there" at all.

I hope the IUS works. I tried hormones but it didn't for me, but it does often work really well. Good luck. Will be thinking of you! You'll be fine.

I've been told to expect bleeding and period pain like pains - well - I'm used to that! That's why I went in the first place! I'm not too worried - which suprises me, I thought I'd be more anxious. - Mind you, ask me again Monday morning!

nah, you'll be fine. I had a d&c and had zero pain or cramping. Really, they just tell you all the possibles. Don't worry, really. Even a hysterectomy isn't that bad.

Why does the preliminary stuff always seem so much weirder than the actual medical procedure?

Hang in!

7.30 is a terrible thought, nobody should have to do something important at 7.30. I hope everything goes well. ::LOVES::
