Today there are cupcakes.

lolabobsI did today. Things. Including inadvertantly dying my finger scarlet.
* Errands: card delivery, packages posted, avoidy phone calls actually made.
* House things: Christmas cards and wrappings and so on taken home and stowed, some of the Christmas and Birthday boons distributed appropriately around the house. Old half used tubes of lotions and potions disposed of. Things in a charity bag. Weeding.
* Out things: I went to Beccles to look at sewing machines. The shop was tiny and uninviting. The man in the sewing machine bit ignored me while I browsed. The sewing machines were VERY expensive. (Two at £200, ALL the rest between £900 and £6000!!!!). It rained very hard. I wore the hat [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] made me. I got a little lost. I went to a wool shop and couldn't find the wool I need. (one more ball needed gah!).
* Food things: I went to Macdonalds and I sat in the car and ate Macdonalds and read a magazine and watched the rain and didn't get wet. I went to Tesco and bought cake ingredients. Except raspberries. they didn't have any. So I went to a different Tesco, then to Aldi, then Lidl, then Asda. Asda had raspberries. In the evening, after tea, I made cupcakes.
The whole idea was that I use the cupcake maker I was gifted for Christmas, so that I could say, look I used your cupcake maker. But it turns out that a) the cupcake maker is for mini cupcakes and I had no mini cupcake cases and b)the cupcake maker says - "this cupcake maker will smoke and smell the first few times you use it. This is fine, but don't eat the cupcakes you make. I have absolutely no interest in the effort and expense involved in cupcakes if they can't be eaten.
Anyway, I found a biscuit piping set in the cupboard which I attempted to adapt to icing use and it worked vaguely enough to make things look pretty. They're just fairy cakes with icing on really. Made in the oven. More to the point, they're lemon flavoured cake, with raspberries in. I added raspberries on what would have been a whim had I not then had to trawl Suffolk's supermarkets to find them.
* cat things: As in feeding them and sitting under 4 at once. Well bits of me. A shoulder and a chest, my feet and a lap. And laughing at Mum's cat and her visiting cat reacting to catnip.

Date: 2012-01-05 11:40 pm (UTC)I have been looking at sewing machines around the £200 mark. That's the high mid range of the Argos range of sewing machines. Not the dirt cheap slightly fragile looking machines, but not the silly £500 jobbies either. I wasn't expecting price tags in the thousands!
