Right then, I'm guessing White Collar is a new fandom for me, because not only am I watching it every night, I've started seeking fic and now I've bought and watched (and absolutely loved) Big Eden (initially) just because Tim DeKay is in it.
Oh Big Eden! What a glorious film. which was another wonderful film, which you should all watch because it's beautiful and poetic and slashy and painful.
Erm, but Big Eden - I watched it all the way through (well, I rewound one tiny scene and watched it again) I didn't pause it, or run off to imdb to check something, or just check lj or anything. All the way through, without distraction. Dean, Tim DeKay's character, was lovely and so pretty (he's got that slightly lipless mouth, which should be wierd, but isn't) and is so so lovely when he smiles. And he's huggy and touchy and it all seemed so natural - and I know I may be missing the point here, but at the end when he danced with the mayoress, he was so sexy.
And he kissed Henry and couldn't and was, oh, it's like all those fictions where 'he's not gay he's just Hutchesexual' or whatever. He loves henry Hart but couldn't go beyond that, and oh, they'd be so beautiful just touching and hugging and holding. (Again, I know I'm missing the point.)
Pike - Pike has wonderful hair, I wanted to stroke his hair, all wavy and wafty and yes. It's such a shame that when he and Henry finally kissed it was as wooden and stiff as anything. No physical chemistry. All the pre slash stuff, the aching looks, difficult conversation, pregnant pauses and ust - all there and present, but dancing and kissing at the end - stolid.
But the scene at the Thanksgiving table, with all those eyes across table and layers of meaning - that was wonderfully done. And poor Dean (I swear it's not just 'cos he's Tim DeKay and so pretty, he was such a sympathetic character) he loves Henry and wants to want him and trying. So willing to try and forgetting that Henry is at the end of those attempts, but right in how unfair it is for Henry to punish him because of it.
And that's the scene that I wanted, beyond any shallow desire for kissage and romance, I wanted Henry and Dean to have the conversation that followed that scene. The resolution - for Henry to see how much Dean loves him, to accept that he isn't trying to hurt him and that they can be okay.
Dean crying after seeing Henry and Pike talking? heartbreaking (and shallow Lola has to say, incredibly nice to look at.)
And to banish Shallow Lola - the scene with Henry and his Sampa, 'Have I taught you shame?' - broke my heart.
Oh, and I liked some of the art in the film too - and loved the soundtrack.

Date: 2012-05-13 03:24 pm (UTC)I've gone through the entire Netflix catalogue. I do pass by the "death" movies (AIDS, bashing, etc). I know it's real life, but I want a romantic movie not a sad one.

Date: 2012-05-13 03:16 pm (UTC)Also - Thanks so much for the recommendation for Big Eden in the first place - what a lovely film, and what a happy by product from a new fandom to find a film that's so utterly gorgeous and stands alone completely outside of that fandom.
Thank you thank you thank you!

Date: 2012-05-13 09:45 pm (UTC)I'd managed to see Big Eden before White Collar, I discovered it among a "Top 50 Gay Films" list on afterelton.com, so I was all, EEEE, it's Dean! when White Collar started. Oh, that crying scene. I always have to watch that a couple of times.
Matt Bomer is the prettiest, prettiest thing on television. Every time I see him I make *noises*. I can't help myself.

Date: 2012-05-15 06:59 am (UTC)Big Eden I'm still bouncy about, and may have watched my fave bits a couple or three times over...
Matt Bomer is *very* pretty, his eyes are astonishing and I'm very happy to spend any amount of time looking at him but Tim DeKay is winning my heart because he's so cute.
(I'm perservering with H50, and I think it's perked up a bit in the latest episodes - d/ling the finale as we speak!)

Date: 2012-05-15 11:14 am (UTC)BTW, there are two really good gag reels out there for White Collar - season 2's has some especially fun moments :)
I pretty much love everyone in the show - Peter and Neal and El and Moz and Diana and June and Jones...EVERYONE <3

Date: 2012-05-15 09:05 pm (UTC)I shall check out the gag reels for WC though :)
And yes, I was thinking about characters on shows and realised they were all rather likeable on WC
(Actually though, WC is not a good abbreviation, I think I'll stop that now!)
