Well, I won't be moving :(

Valuation man came round and the value of my house has, apparently dropped £20k since last August. Which means that I haven't the equity to form a deposit on Mum's neighbour's.

So.

That's an end to that.

I'm disappointed, it seemed such an opportune solution - but if it's not meant to be, then hey ho.

I am lucky I have a home, I like it and I'm not having to sell or leave, so I'll get over this and carry on.

Perhaps it will inspire me to spruce up my house a bit to get some of the things I was coveting in the new house. And I do only live 5 minutes drive from Mum, so it's not a catastrophe.

Oh, bummer. Is that like a final thing though? Can you get a different person to come around and they'd maybe give you a higher valuation? I have no real life experience of this but sometimes I used to get stuck underneath my cat of a morning and the house-moving programmes would come on and that seemed to be a thing they did. Bummer though. Boo. Etc.

If it were a matter of a few thousand I would consider getting another valuation, but I don't think it's going to vary by 20+, so I'll draw a line under it. I'm lucky in that I still have my home and Mum is okay for the here and now.

Yeah, it's a shame. I knew the market was deflated, but I didn't think it would drop by so much in such a short time.

But, I have a home and so I can't complain.

Oh :( That's strange, that it could decrease in value so much in less than a year! Not that I really know anything about these things. Do you think there's any chance that another valuation person might give you a higher valuation?

If the difference was only a few thousand, I would go to another valuer to see if it made a difference, but not when it's 20+.


I'm lucky in that I have a house, that it's fine and I don't have to move - moving to Mum was a little pipe dream that I'll have to give up for now.
