What a horrible day - The Boston bombings are horrific and scary and still ongoing, so my thoughts are with all affected.

As is perhaps inevitable, however, my main thoughts today are with the events that took place in my home town. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-22157968,

The day started with me having to console a distraught offender who "just saw a girl commit suicide" (as in, literally, right in front of him) and then the remaining news and developments were drip fed throughout the day. These are locations I know well and it feels personal - perhaps because of the conversation this morning with my chap and how distressed he was, perhaps just because it's an awful, awful thing.

Either way, it's a bleak day that's left me feeling subdued and saddened.

I have no idea what's going on in Boston. I saw on Google news that there were explosions at the Boston Marathon but that's the extent of what I know. I have no idea who is behind them, although I suspect terrorists but of domestic or foreign origin I have no idea.

I read your second link though and the whole thing is horrible and tragic. I feel bad for your offender too -- what an awful thing to witness. *Massive hugs*

Both events are awful. The local issue is more immediate to me, it's going on around me and I can see the tributes left, the cordoned off areas etc -

The Boston thing is on a much bigger scale and is equally heartbreaking.

All see families left stunned and broken.

Sometimes it just seems like a horrible world.

It really is, each new development or piece of info is even more heartrending -

and the facebook 'tribute' pages that were set up by her friends are just hate filled, spiteful blame fests -

She was apparently facebook friends with my cousin's partner and because of that connection, they are getting harassed and bothered by The Daily Mail and other magazines to tell their story. It's just so depressing.
