Jennifer sent me In Deep. Along with a gloriously glittery Get Well greeting.

Yay!

I don't like it at all. Garth is called Garth. He has an awful accent and awful hair and appears to be styled to be the worst looking he could ever look ever. He's called Garth.

Liam is Nick Berry.

It's dreadful.

Which is why I've watched Season 1 in a day and a bit and am about to start on season 2. Liam's dysfunctional marriage is crumbling and it feels all 90s gritty even though it was made later than that, and Meera Syal is the psychologist and is wry (and breaking probably every rule invented.) And Garth gets wonderfully attached and vulnerable. And the second episode, with the paedophiles was the best. Garth cried and I found him disturbingly appealing when he was in the prison and yes. Liam and Garth appear to ignore each other and don't do deep and meaningfuls and yet.

I'm off to watch the next episode. (eta: Ian McShane oh my goodness.)

Oh this is just the saddest most true post ever written about In Deep. It's glorious isn't it? It's so gritty nineties that I can't believe it's not, and oh my god the accents and the hair. And so so so bad at deep and meaningful when EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM calls for deep and meaningful and oh god Liam, I hate having a pairing with Liam in it AND YET. Series 2 is worse in some ways, but still glorious in others. But series 3 has the really beautiful episode right near the beginning to get things better.

OMG, I'm just now watching ep 2 series r and I've had to stop because it's all just too much. Kelly is making me cross cross cross and Garth's been shot. After Liam was going to shoot him and he doesn't believe that Liam knew there were no bullets, and he's just come round in the hospital and he's just utterly squeezable and I had to pause it to breath.
